Tallinn, Estonia

Arriving into Tallinn, such a lovely view.

We spent a lovely day in Tallinn, the weather was a balmy 18 degrees and sunny.  The town is an easy walk from the Ship probably about ten to fifteen minutes however they do run shuttle buses at a cost.  Tallinn is the best preserved medieval city in Northern Europe and is delightful.  With its Upper and Lower Towns there is more than enough to see in a day.  They have a wonderful timeline of their history on the ground near the museum and they are proud of the fact that they have had self-rule for forty years and although they have been governed by other nationalities they have always negotiated a peaceful takeover, no guns being fired.  There is a beautiful square in the middle of the lower town where there are plenty of restaurants to chose from and we managed to sample a delightful coffee and cake for morning tea at the oldest bakery in Tallinn some 300 hundred years old.
